School Dropout Represents Asia Pacific at the UN

18 year old Poorvaprabha Patil, from Ratnagiri, became the youngest person to represent Asia-Pacific at the second Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the UN headquarters in New York on May 15 and 16 this year.Poorvaprabha had high IQ level(145) and hence in school everything seemed super easy for her. Due to her high achievement capability, she got lots of troubles in her first school. At last she stopped going to that school. She was deeply hurt and de-motivated by the sudden change. For some time her mother did home schooling for Poorva. In a year's time Poorva, regained her confidence and was ready to go to school again. She got motivation and acceptance from the new school. She started representing her school at various events and scored 95.2 % in class 10.Poorva scored 92% in 12th. Cleared the entrance exams with lots of struggles and got admission in Kasturba Medical College. Currently a second- semester student of MBBS, Poorvaprabha is a research intern with the Student Research Forum (KMC-SRF). She has also taken up numerous projects and has been an active part of numerous NGOs and organizations that focus on issues like health and sanitation, hunger, poverty, child welfare, gender equality, wildlife conservation and climate change.In May this year, Poorva was at the UN headquarters in New York making us all proud.
