இதோ காங்கிரஸ் ஆட்சியில் இருந்தபோது கொடுக்கப்பட்ட பாரத் ரத்னா லிஸ்ட் (ஒரு உதாரணம்) பாருங்க ஜவாஹர்லால் நேரு, அப்துல் காபர் கான், காமராஜ், சாகிர் ஹுசைன்,மௌலானா ஆசாத், எம்.ஜி.ஆர், அருணா ஆசப் அலி ,இந்திரா காந்தி, ராஜீவ் காந்தி (தியாகிகள் சஞ்சய் காந்தி, சோனியா, ராவுல், ப்ரியங்கா பெயர்கள் விட்டுப்போச்சு)...இதுல நேரு, இந்திரா, ராஜீவ் இதெல்லாம் தனக்குத்தானே கொடுத்துக்கிட்டது...

These awards to politicians should be totally done away with. Thank God, Congress has no chance of ever coming back to power in the Centre. Just imagine what would happen then. Congress would give Bharat Ratna to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and even Sanjay Gandhi posthumously. May be it would even be given to Priyanka and Robert Vadra. Sir C V Raman hated Nehru and did not like the award being given to him by an aetherist like Nehru, He was so furious that he by his own hands hammered the award to express his anger and discomfiture

Bharat Rathna to Shri M S Swaminathan is long overdue. He should have been decorated with this honor alongside with Shri C Subramaniam. However, C S being a politician took the priority. Aside, these awards have lost its significance and value not today but from inception itself. In partiulcular, the awards conferred posthumously. Men of eminence have to be honoured during their life time or at the least in the year following theri demise.What's the point in honouring decades later. In anycase these awards should not be conferred on anyone who even has the slim connection to politics. Electoral politics and coaltion politics overtake the merit. Look at the ist of Bharat Rathna awardeeds. How may deserved them. Are the politicians like Karpoori Thakoor or Charan Singh is of the same class as Sir C V Raman or Sri P V Kane and the like. It's high time Padma awards are given a decent burial
